Our Access Statement.
Centrally located in the heart of Blackpool

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Introduction

The Avonlea guest accommodation is situated in a great central location, we are just a few minutes walk to the town center where you will find most of the local attractions and theatres. The promenade is also only a few minutes leisurely walk away on flat pathways.
The Avonlea is a non smoking establishment, smoking is only permitted in the designated area at the front of the hotel.
We currently have available six en-suite rooms all with digital free-view TV and free wifi.
All our bedrooms are on the first and second floors, our dining room and licenced bar are on the ground floor.

Pre-Arrival

Our main train station is Blackpool north this is 0.61 miles away and situated just off the High St approximately 10 to 15 minute walk. Taxis are available from the rank outside the station, these include access taxis.
Talbot road is the main bus station situated 0.5 miles away and is in the main town center although National express coaches now have a new coach park just off central drive including new public toilets. this is only 2 minutes walk away.
Our nearest bus stop is only 2 minutes away in either central drive or coronation street, all pathways are level and in a good order.

Car Parking and Arrival

We have 2 parking spaces available at the front of the hotel, these can be reserved when booking ( subject to availability), our car park is tarmacked and lit.
Pay & Display car parking is available in Reads Avenue or in Palatine Road at the rear of the hotel, both are only a few minutes walk on good level ground.
On arrival at the Avonlea we have 1 small step up into a tiled porch way and in through a 27 inch doorway (690mm)
A drop off and collection point is available at the front of the Avonlea
Assistance with luggage can be provided.

Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed into the hallway then escorted through to the bar area for registration.
Comfy lounge / bar seating is available along with upright chairs.
The floor is carpeted in a short pile carpet, and is well lit evenly with ceiling and wall mounted up-lighters.
Pens,writing paper and a magnifying glass are all available on request
After registering guests are shown the fire escape route, where the ironing board and iron are located, also tea,coffee, sugars etc should they need them before there room is serviced the next morning.

Bedrooms

All our bedroms are on the first and second floors, there is no lift available
All six rooms are en-suite, there is a 6.5 inch /165mm step up into all the en-suites and a further 6 inch/ 150mm shower tray.
The bed are a height of 22 inch/560mm accessed through a door way of 27 inch/ 690 minimum.
Rooms available are two singles, two doubles and two family. all equipped with Flat Screen TV ( free view) radio alarm clocks, bedside reading lights and free wifi.
Complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available 24/7.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

All our room are en-suite and have a shower cubicle, toilet seats are of a standard height with no pedestal restrictions.
All our en-suites have new cushion flooring and are well light from a central overhead light.
There is a 165mm step up into the en-suite and a further 150mm up into the shower tray.

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

The Hall area is carpeted with a short pile carpet, leading off into the dining room/lounge and bar area, all well lit with a combination of ceiling and wall lights.
The stairs start with a continuous flight of fourteen steps to floor one then two steps to turn and another fourteen steps up to floor two. All covered in the same short piled carpet with a hand rail fitted to the right hand side.
All landings and stairs are well lit and have alarm call points and fire extinguishers, these are clearly marked and in a well maintained condition.

Public Areas - Lounge

The lounge, bar and dining room are accessed through a double door way of 1470mm from the main hall, there are no steps.
There is a good mix of soft comfy lounge/bar seating and firm up-right chairs
All the ground floor area is covered in a short pile carpet, and is well and evenly lit by a combination of ceiling and wall lights
The bar area has a large flat screen TV, subtitles are available if supported by the broadcaster.

Public Toilet

There is a small public toilet available at the top of the hotel, this is well lie and has hand sanitiser available.
All letting rooms are en-suite, therefore having there own toilet facilities.

Dining Room

The dining room is situated on the ground floor, entry is from the main hall through double doors, this is step free. The dining room has a short pile carpet and is well and evenly lit.
Large fronted bay window floods the dining room with natural light, making for a relaxed breakfast experience. Main breakfast is served, however guest are encouraged to help themselves to cereal, fresh fruit etc
Fresh ground coffee is available
We are able to cater for varying dietary requirements, please advise on booking.

Additional Information

We have an up to date fire alarm system tested by outside engineers every 6 months. This is supported by emergency lighting throughout the Avonlea.
A list of local useful telephone numbers and addresses are displayed in every room, this includes hospital, dentist, walk in center, emergency doctors etc Free wifi is available throughout the Avonlea
Wheelchair and scooter hire is available within half a mile from the Avonlea

Future Plans

Our ongoing plans for the Avonlea are to grow the business and continue to offer exceptional value for money to all our guests A continual replacement plan means all fixtures and fittings are continually upgraded to improve our service and comfort for our guests.
